Welcome! My name is Jessica Swords and I am self-discovering through researching, learning and teaching myself how to become the best artist I can be! I have been painting on and off for about ten years, pausing for long periods of time when college papers and all-nighters have interrupted my creative thought process.
My creativity comes from my paternal grandmother, who unfortunately passed away before I got the chance to meet her. She specialized in oils and abstract art, which is a little of what I am experimenting with. After learning that she was also a painter, it reconnected me with the side of my family that I never got to know. Now I try painting as often as possible, picking up techniques from whatever artists are willing to give me a few minutes of their time.
I work mostly with acrylics, although I do enjoy experimenting with oils, as well as other types of art such as pastels and mixed-media. Although I am more of an "abstract" minded girl, I am trying to do more realism in order to try to focus my techniques and push myself where I don't feel as strong. My passion is more in rendering and concepts using shapes, shadows and colors, which is what I feel I am best at and where I feel the most self-expression.
